What a Christmas Cracker that was!

What a Weekend!  First we could rename the open meet as the Caribbean Christmas Cracker as it was so hot at the Pavilions.

Over the weekend we had 78 swimmers that had entered this event and with a fantastic supporting team poolside all swimmers did the club proud. In fact there were times we have up to 5 swimmers in a heat.

Medals galore were taken and more qualifying times were achieved for the 2019 County Championships from many swimmers, some first timers as well. A special well done goes to Mia Maurice Jones who achieved  a 1.48.43m in the 100m Backstroke and will qualify next year at the County Championships.

Another stand out moment was Michal Urban who swam nine events and achieved nine personal bests and nine gold medals in all nine events.

Michal was not alone in this. Ben Uff competed in five events also won five gold medals and five personal bests. Oliver Hoey eight events , seven gold and one silver all improved  on their entry times. Another swimmer who also deserves a mention is Constance Logan with five golds , one silver and a placing. I could keep going here as all did the club proud.

A magical 99 medals were taken over the course of the weekend which resulted in top swimmers being identified in each Age Group as Michal Urban, Oliver Hoey and Megan McCallum. Top visiting Club was Mid Sussex Marlins and we were presented with a trophy for our achievements.

A huge thank you goes out to all support staff from coaches, helpers, officials swimmers and parents for what was a fantastic weekend.

Well done Marlins
