On Sunday 27th May 2018, a large Marlins contingent attended the Vanessa Knight Memorial open meet, in Bognor, with high expectations of a good day. We had always expected a warm day poolside, as this had been the case over the last two years, and we were not disappointed!
So, despite the hot and humid conditions, we took a fantastic 60 medals by 27 individual Marlins’ swimmers, from the 32 that attended, all of whom swam brilliantly. Our medal winners were:
Kirsten Abrams, Molly Atkinson, Ellie Barnes, Caitlin Bugler, Charlie Carr, Amelia Clark, Harry Forcier, Jacob Golby, Gertie Griffin, Jude Hawkins-Hall, Eliza Hutchison, Caitlin Maguire, Emie McGeough, Anna Metcalfe, Matthew Metcalfe, Lewis Murray, Ross Murray, Katie Olliver, Adam Parvin, Charlotte Parvin, Todd Peart, Bridget Priest, Amy Rutherford, Alys Short, Heath Thompson, Michal Urban and Eva Valovin.
To finish the day off in style, with a great haul of team points, Marlins secured Top Club, winning the trophy over second place Shiverers and third place Chichester.
A big thank you goes out to those that volunteered to officiate on the day and also the our poolside support who helped the day run like clockwork from start to finish. Many thanks too, to the parents who cheered the swimmers throughout despite the heat – this made a great day for all associated with the Club.
