More swimming success for Marlins

A team of twelve passionate swimmers from Mid Sussex Marlins SC recently embarked on a journey to Bognor Regis to participate in a gala for people with disabilities, hosted by Sussex Squids. Hoping to return with some winnings, the squad were raring to go, making the trip very worthwhile.

Richard Sambrook swam brilliantly, receiving a total of four gold individual medals and a silver, as well as retaining both the Individual Medley Senior trophy and the Senior Male trophy titles – a great achievement.  Similarly, Chris Manson managed to retain the Special Achievement trophy for his honourable swims, as well as claiming a bronze medal.

It was the first gala for our excellent swimmers Domenico Capaldi-Drewett and Mark Williams, who accumulated three gold medals, a silver and a bronze between them.  They both thoroughly enjoyed taking part and we hope to see them joining us again for more of these events!

Working as a team in the relays resulted in a positive outcome: silver medals all round for each of the participants.  Each member contributed beneficial points towards a total for the evening, and David Fawdrey, Tom Giles, Aaron Johnson, Peter McCleery, Reece Meyer, Louis Moyes, Alfie Penfold and Ewan Sumpter also played a valuable part. As last year, the winners of the overall competition were hosts, Sussex Squids.

I feel extremely privileged and proud to be able to work with such an amazing group of young people and a massive well done to everyone who took part.
