Shaw shines for the South East team at the LEN Euro meet.

Sophie Shaw and Head Coach Stephen Murphy traveled as part of the Swim England’s South East team to the LEN Euro meet in Luxembourg which took place between the 23rd and 26th January.
The South East team had been selected from winners of Olympic events from the winter regional championships. The aim for the team was to gain experience at an International swim meet, train through the meet and develop their race process skills!
There were a high number of Olympic medalists at the meet including Katinka Hoszu, Sarah Sjostrom, Florent Manadou,  Bruno Fratus and Pernille Blume.
Sophie was one of only two swimmers in the team to make an A final placing 6th in the 100m backstroke. Sophie won the 200m backstroke B final in 2.17.20 whilst in heavy training! The swimmers were racing in unfamiliar and tough conditions with an aim to preparing them for the future.
Head coach Stephen Murphy who was the team’s assistant coach commented  “the team all conducted themselves in a professional manner and understood they needed to race tough with the meet / camp being a train through meet in preparation for the key domestic meets in April and July. Sophie conducted herself well in and out of the pool and represented the region and Mid Sussex Marlins swimming club excellently”
