Primary Schools Swimming Relay and Robin Low Memorial Gala

The third Mid Sussex Marlins Robin Low Memorial Gala was held recently at the Triangle Leisure Centre and also included a Primary Schools 4 x 1 freestyle relay event.    We were delighted that Anne Eves, Deputy Mayor of Burgess Hill, was able to present the trophy to the winning team – St Joseph’s RC A team, Haywards Heath.  Other schools taking part this year were Harlands, Haywards Heath; Lindfield Primary; St Wilfrid’s and Southway, Burgess Hill; St Margarets C of E, Ditchling; Northlands Wood, Haywards Heath; Windmills, Hassocks and St Peter’s, Cowfold.  Several schools also entered B teams as well.

The individuals’ competition was a split IM medley – 25m fly, back, breast and free swum, with the combined times from each spilt producing an overall IM time per swimmer.   Any DQ’s received a 10 second penalty and the fastest boy and girl in each category won a trophy.  This format produced some very exciting swims with the overall results not known until the end of the evening.

Winners were: 13 & U Imogen Read and Harry Barker; 11 & U Poppy Elliff and Josh Steel; 9 & U Florence Goodwin and Daniel Sheridan; Para Swimmers Maia Tollner and Mark Williams.
