Marlins retain the Airtech trophy

On Saturday 9th June Marlins took 39 swimmers from across the Youth and Competitive squads to compete in the annual Airtech Team Relay Gala hosted by Crawley Swimming Club at the K2.   The Airtech is a fast paced 25m sprint relay gala.

As always the competition was tough and it was nip and tuck all evening between Marlins and Atlantis with Marlins winning by the smallest of margins, literally in the very last race.  Very well done team Marlins – you did yourselves and the Club proud.

Steve Murphy, Head Coach, was delighted to hear the result and had the following to say” I’d like to congratulate the swimmers, coaches and volunteers on a fantastic win to help the Club retain the Airtech trophy.  We selected swimmers from six different squads to form the team which makes the result event more pleasing knowing so many swimmers from different parts and stages on the club pathway were involved.”

The final scores for the gala were:

  • 1st – Mid Sussex Marlins – 208 points
  • 2nd – Atlantis – 201 points
  • 3rd – Worthing – 169 points
  • 4th – Dorking – 158 points
  • 5th – Hailsham – 142 points
  • 6th – East Grinstead – 134 points
  • 7th – Crawley – 127 points
  • 8th – Brighton – 91 points

Many thanks to our coaches on the night, Dave Wood, Stuart Marshall and Charlie Wood, team manager Suzy Parvin and club captains Charlotte Johnson and Tom Midmer.  Thank you also to Liz Smith, Janice White and the team at Crawley swim club for organising the gala.
