Marlins do it again!

Marlins are 2018 Sussex Relay Champions

Report by Team Manager: Dan Valovin

In 2017, for the first time, the Mid Sussex Marlins were crowned the Sussex County Relay Champions.  Well in true Panto style the coaches put out the call “Well… we’ll have to do it again then won’t we?”  So, our swimmers rallied to the call and only went and did it again!!!!   After a very tough days swimming Mid Sussex Marlins are the 2018 Sussex County Relay Champions.

It really was a tightly fought event with some high quality teams taking part. Up to the final couple of races we were neck and neck with Hastings. The final top 6 teams were:

  • 1st: Mid Sussex Marlins – 113 points
  • 2nd: Hastings – 100 points
  • 3rd: Atlantis – 82 points
  • 4th: Shiverers – 70 points
  • 5th: Hailsham – 63 points
  • 6th: Crawley – 42 points

We had 20 teams reach 16 finals and we picked up 5 Gold Medals, 6 Silvers and 2 bronze. It was ALSO our constant high placing across all age groups and all teams that put us top of the overall rankings. Great swimming Team Marlins.

We had a great day at the County Relays and each and every swimmer did themselves and the club proud. You all were a credit to the Marlins. Very well done Team Marlins.  The Top Club trophy will be presented on Saturday 10th February at K2 at the County Championship meet.

Thank you to the Sussex County team and all the officials and volunteers running the event for making it such a great day.
