Sussex League – Round 2 – report by Dan Valovin
If we thought Team Marlins did well in round one of the Sussex League we were in for a treat last Saturday evening as both our teams raised the bar once again in round two. The Sussex League is one of two main competitive team gala series for the Marlins, with the Arena League being the other. Building on our round one results both teams continued to push forwards, winning 81 of the 114 races on the night.
Our B team travelled to Horsham to complete against Atlantis B and 1066 and took the win in 41 out of their 57 races! The final scores were:
- Mid Sussex Marlins B – 468
- Atlantis B – 368
- 1066 – 209
The A team had their first home meet of the season, welcoming Littlehampton and Hastings to the Triangle. Another great performance with wins in 40 of the 57 races. The final scores were:
- Mid Sussex Marlins A – 489
- Littlehampton – 288
- Hastings – 272
Here’s the results table after round 2: Results & League table R2
With 77 swimmers taking part, from six different sections of the club, what dedication and talent our swimmers showed, giving their all for both teams and doing themselves and Marlins proud.
These results mean both teams have made their finals and will be competing in the third round on Saturday 19th May. The A team will be hosting the final for the Division 1 Sussex League Crown and will have stiff competition from Atlantis A and Hailsham. The B team will compete for the Division 2 crown, with the winner being promoted to Division 1; they will be up against East Grinstead and Atlantis B.
