A flying start to Regionals

The first weekend of May saw our 15 and over, Mid Sussex Marlins swimmers make a flying start to this year’s South East Regional championships.   Our swimmers took two County Relay records in the under 16 years medlay relays, three individual County records and an impressive SIX gold medals.

Coach Steve Murphy said “This year we took our biggest team yet to the 15 and over Regionals at Wycombe and the team exceeded expectations.  The six gold medals were big highlights but some of the most impressive improvements we made as a team included our approach, focus and preparation of swimmers over the long days of competition.  Our swimmers showed great confidence and this shone through in the great results we achieved.  We look forward to our younder swimmers following in the steps of their older team mates at the 14 and younger competition which takes place before the end of May.”

In total Mid Sussex Marlins had 24 swimmers taking part in the 15 and overs SER championships, including nine relay teams.  The individual county records were taken by Sophie Shaw (200m back) and Sophie Maguire (100 & 200m back open).  The County relay records were taken by Mid Sussex Marlins under 16 boy & girls teams in the medley.

Congratulations to everyone who took part.
