2013 Development Gala Series Gala 2 entry form

Emma Shilton (13) had qualified for a staggering 7 events, a great achievement. She gained a PB in all her swims. In the 200IM Emma made the final and bettered her position from 10^th place to 5^th, in the 100m Breaststroke she also made the final, bettering her position from 7^th to 5^th. However, the swim of the meet was emmas 200m Breaststroke, where in the heat she swam an amazing race knocking off 15secs from her PB and was rewarded with a National Qualifying time – congratulations! This took her through to the final in 3^rd position.

Will Curry (13) and Caleb Boyden (14) both swam well and gained a PB in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke – Caleb achieving 5sec PB in both events. Leah Clarke (13) had a great swim in the 100m Backstroke. Meghan Stevens (10) swam a steady 200m Backstroke and after a disappointing 200m Breaststroke, finished her Regionals with a gutsy swim in the 200m Freestyle and achieved a 3 second PB. Jamie Dooley (12) had a good swim in the 100m Backstroke finishing in a creditable 13^th position.

The boys Freestyle relay team – Ben Stevens (12), Robin Boyden (12), Will Curry and Caleb Boyden and Boys Medley Relay Team – Jamie Dooley, Caleb Boyden, Jake Newman (14) and Will Curry performed well in their races. As did the girls teams – Freestyle, Emma Shilton, Izzy Watson (13), Leah Clarke and Molly Firth (14); Medley Relay Team – Leah Clarke, Emma Shilton, Ellen Marchant (12) and Izzy Watson.

Megan McCallum had some great PBs – nearly 8 secs on her 50 backstroke, 5secs on 50m breaststroke and 9secs on her 100IM. Alastair McCallum also had fast swims, with an amazing 19sec PB on his 50fly – great swim!

A huge thank you to swimmers parents, Neil McCallum and Kerry Estcott, who took on the role of ‘poolside coach’ for the day, as the Marlins Coaches were unavailable – you did a great job and was much appreciated by the swimmers – Thank You!

We had some great swims and with quite a few swimmers having just come back from their holidays that very day, we triumphed into 2^ndplace. The final squadron relay, like last time, was ours again,  bringing supporters to their feet and  certainly raising the roof with loud cheering and screaming!

The final points were;

Crawley – 386

Mid-Sussex Marlins – 334

Hastings – 290

Our next and final round is at Pavilions Horsham again on 15^th June. We are against Atlantis  SC and Eastbourne SC. Good Luck everybody!

The AGM is to be held at the Sheldrake Suite,Martlets Hall Burgess Hill on Thursday 27^th June 2013 starting at 8pm. There will be tea/coffee from 7.30pm and a pay bar is available on site. Ample car parking is available at the following sites:

2013 AGM Notice

Marlins is a thriving Club and has a very active Board and Management Committee which is re-elected each year. Whilst many of the Members apply for re-election, we do need new talent and if you would like to put your name forward for consideration please do so by completing and submitting the attached Nomination Form.

You will need to be proposed and seconded by Members of the Club.

We always need help and support so if you feel a full committee role may be a bit daunting please contact Paul Clarke chairman@midsussexmarlins.org and we can always find some fulfilling activities you can participate in or lead.

There is an opportunity to ask questions from the floor at the AGM, although if you wish to propose a more substantive matter for consideration please can you table it in advance using the form below duly completed.

Parents who are not swimmers will need to join the Club in order to vote at the meeting. The cost is £5 each year and a form is attached. Please complete the form and hand in as indicated.
