| 2010 A big year for the Mid Sussex Marlins |
|
2010 promises to be an exciting year at all levels within the club. Our teaching area's are in great shape and following the recent Invitation Champs there are many junior Marlins looking to progress into the competitive teams. The principle teachers at both the Dolphin and the Triangle are working hard to create a progressive atmosphere where swimmers will flourish. Marlins will be looking to take a healthy number of swimmers to County Champs (Feb and March) Regional's (June) and a few to Nationals in late July.
Team events evoke the most excitement through out the calendar. Marlins field 2 teams of 35 swimmers both in the Sussex League (Spring and Summer) and Arena National Swimming League (late Autumn)
In the Sussex league the they will be looking for a strong showing on finals night in July against rivals Crawley. In the National Swimming League they are newly promoted in the prestigious Premier Division where they will take on the best clubs in the South East. It will prove to be a huge challenge staying there.
Things got off to a great start this Saturday evening at the Brighton Dolphins Development Gala @ Prince Regent.
An experimental Marlins team sprinkled with debutantes was picked purely to give vital gala experience and to have some fun. As it turned out Marlins romped to victory showing 30 odd points ahead of 2nd place Lewis SC winning 23 of the 49 races.
Under 10 debutantes Tom Harrison and Izzie Mills both producing PBs and so avoiding the dreaded D/Q.
Ruby Rienecker-Found and Guy Cooper both produced fine PDs to win their respective 50m Fly heats.
The team also picked up a win in the exciting Squadron Relay
The young Squad enjoyed their evening in Brighton and were cheered on by many Marlin supporters on the balcony.
A good evening for the club which bodes well for the coming months. |
