| How to Join Mid Sussex Marlins |
|
Junior swimmers (up to 19 years)
Marlins offers classes from level 4 in the National Plan for Teaching swimming for school age children (4 years and over). We welcome both competitive and non-competitive swimmers but for swimmers with the inclination and ability to compete, the sooner you join the better as we teach competitive techniques and offer opportunities to enter galas and time trials for children in lengths classes. Swimmers aged 12 and over will be invited to one of our Training Groups sessions for assessment initially. At this age swimmers should be at least at the standard for Training Group 4 (the lowest Training Group) but in exceptional circumstance a place may be offered in a Teaching Group. Competitive swimmers transferring from a squad at another ASA competitive club (not a swim school) will be assessed by the Head of Swimming. Primary school children will be assessed to join our Teaching Groups. For young swimmers who are not yet swimming lenght we may be able to arrange an assesment at the Princess Royal Pool. Please phone for an appointment. For primary school children who can swim at least one length (more lengths for older swimmers), book a place at one of our scheduled assessment sessions. On arrival, please register at the Mid Sussex Marlins desk before going into the pool: - Olympos Haywards Heath: desk is opposite Reception - Olympos Burgess Hill : desk is in the passage to the changing rooms Please do not go into the pool before registering and without a completed form to give the coach. For more information, please phone Judy. All children should have had lessons before joining. The main start dates for Teaching Groups in 2012 will be January, May and September, though very talented swimmers may be offered an interim start date. Scheduled assessments will be in January, February, March, May, June July, September, October, November. There will be no assessments in December, April or August, Next dates for scheduled assessments:
Fees must be paid before starting up to the next quarter date (January, April, July, October). Fees from the next quarter date may be paid monthly by direct debit or for the whole quarter in advance by electronic banking, cheque or cash. At the scheduled assessments we will arrange a swim time and start date if possible if you want to join so please be prepared to pay at least the joining fee (£20), the annual membership fees (£30 if you start swimming in the January quarter, £20 if you start in the April quarter) and the swim fees from starting to the next quarter date quarter by cheque or cash.
