Champions! with 7 out of 7 wins

Last Sunday (8th April) was a busy day for our water polo section.  Whilst our ladies team were in Walsall winning National Championship 2, our juniors were playing a mixed friendly away against Worthing and, for those not involved in the games, our regular training session still took place at the Dolphin.  Thank you for all who took part and helped out on a very busy day!

BRITISH WATER POLO LEAGUE National Championships

Mid Sussex Marlins Ladies travelled to Walsall last weekend for the final games in the National Championship 2 league playoffs and returned as CHAMPIONS, with a perfect seven wins from seven matches and, as a bonus, the league’s top scorers.

Marlins entered the weekend as league leaders with one of three places already assured for promotion back to National League Division 2 next season.  With two more games to play though the title was still up for grabs.  The final fixtures saw four sides playoff against each other; Marlins, Bristol, Birmingham and Southampton.

After a hard fought first game Marlins triumphed against Southampton 8-6.  The final game of the league was a play-off between Marlins and Bristol, both so far unbeaten.  A tense game, with Marlins going behind at the start, eventually saw Marlins take the lead just before the final quarter and then, against a tiring Bristol, the girls came home winners 10-7 and worth champions.

Congratulations to all involved.
