Announcement of New Appointments

Head Coach

The committee is very pleased to announce we have appointed Stephen Murphy as Head Coach for Mid Sussex Marlins Swimming Club.
Steve has been our National Squad coach for over three years and has contributed to our success in recent years.  Steve is a very experienced coach who studied sports science at University and, prior to joining Marlins, worked with Sussex University, Out to Swim and ROVI, setting up and coordinating learn to swim and development programmes for the visually impaired, masters, competitive, as well as fitness swimmers.  He has also been a key member of our poolside committee helping the club develop from within.
This appointment will, we feel, help Mid Sussex Marlins now continue the energy and positive development that has been started and put us on a very stable footing for the future.
Steve will continue with his current duties as National Squad Lead as well as taking on the duties of the Head Coach.  Steve will start his new role with effect from 9th April 2018.
Steve commented:  I am looking forward to working with the team and beginning the next chapter here at Mid Sussex Marlins.  The club offers so much for so many and had great potential to progress further in all areas.
Technical Development Lead

As part of our development as a club and our future structure, to support our swimmer pathway, we are delighted to announce that Nic Piper has accepted the role of Technical Development Lead alongside his current duties.  Nic has a wealth of experience and has been a major contributor to the development of our swimmers and our success.  Nic will be working with Steve to support the development of the core technical and stroke skills of all our developing swimmers and support all areas of the club as well as looking at stroke clinics and helping our members reach their full potential.
We are sure all swimmers, teachers and coaches will join us in congratulating Steve and Nic on their appointments and provide them with help and support to settle into these new roles.
